1986, chicago. jody fingers finch is 18, not yet able to gain access to all of the spaces in which his first production will soon get airplay. he saves up the cash himself and records it in the basement of staple singers member bob murphy, who prefers the moniker bm recording studio. one 8-track reel-to-reel machine, one afternoon, $200 cash. a handful of cuts are recorded, including a stripped-raw, bare-bones track jody calls jack your big booty, an undercover piéce de résistance about his friends mothers backside. another is dubbed whistle worm, a meandering, experimental ride, riddled with strange noises and staccato high hats. bob murphy is likely confused. the tracks are brutally raw, lo-fi at best

fresh from a recent round of absolute killer 12s & a bestselling mix cd on their revitalized noid label, the idjuts are further cementing their purple patch in production with the launch of a no doubt sporadic, though eminently collectible and club friendly imprint. droid exists as an outlet for the boys more electronic releases, something for a little later in the evening (or morning !), a selection of tracks which apply the duos patented dub ethic to the late night world of hypnotic dancefloor secret weapons. this huge second release sees the idjuts deliver a duo of heavy, dubbed out acid trax….a 21st century nod to the early & seminal chicago acid tracks which rattled the foundations of ron hardys musicbox club and changed electronic music forever.

leo anibaldi was born in 1972 and at the age of 15 discovers his passion for electronic music. thanks to the advent of the first computers like commodore vic 20 and 64, he begins to create his first loops. after one year leo start to play in outskints clubs under the pseudonym dj mc, when was impossibile to find in rome any trace of electronic beat. he becomes a big analogics synths collector and he decide to spend his daily life into the creation of beat groove. in 1990 leo begins his recordings career at acv records where he will make more then 20 albums like: attack random, riders of the future, noise generation, muta, cannibald and aeon. in 1991 leo meets lory d and in a small garage located in the north of rome, they start the alternative music movement universally known as the sound of rome, who spread the techno music in rome and whole italy. in those years leo is concentrated to bring his analogic live set around the world, he plays in the best techno parties like one the first love parade edition in berlin. in 1995 leo decides to cut the relation whit acv records and moves to rephlex, label of his friend aphex twin where he will make the album void. 2008. cannibald record was born, leos personal record label, and he is back with a 4 track ep. feed1 is a hypnotic techno sound, feed2 a deep, spaced out techno track and feed 3 modern minimal acid. leos older hit >attack random< got remixed by francesco pierguidi.

this hot new e.p. for dessous introduces two new artists to its roster, in the form of well known and highly respected producer & dj ripperton, who runs the successful perspectiv label, alongside co-owner and recording artist sam k. this mixed and exciting release is headed off by the deeply spaced and simply hypnotic ‚eze‘, a straight collaboration between ripperton and sam k. its bouncing, deep techno pump underpins the track and keeps the pressure constant, while a wonderful phasing synth motif is explored and unfurled as the journey continues. beautiful atmospheric modern dance music! next sam k takes the reigns alone as he introduces the slower, fantastic world of ‚desperate housetrack‘. the title might be a clue to where the melody takes its inspiration, but this tough little groover has more than one surprise up its sleeve, showing off sam‘s love for slow burning, thoroughly explored arrangements. ‚slipstream‘ is ripperton‘s own unique solo voyage through contemporary acid house. its a stripped, low-riding jam that harks back messages from days of old but still had that fresh 21st century sound going on. a great dj tool and indeed a bold statement about the merits of keeping it deep!

when we first started thinking about the compilation, we had in mind the idea to put together a great minimal techno selection with stuff from the early 90s, which really inspired us, like robert hood, dan bell, plastikman, pansonic and mike ink to name a few. whilst working on the project we had the feeling that there is so much more great and influential minimal music from way before the techno thing started. so we were very excited to combine the music from the electronic pioneers, with the tracks from the minimal techno godfathers in a very modern way. in minimal music there is so much (space) in between the sounds and the space that gives you a lot of opportunities for an own interpretation. the grandfather paradox is a scientific theory about time travelling and was first described by the science fiction writer rene barjavel in his book - le voyageur imprudent. we took suggestions out of that because we felt like we are travelling back in time and manipulating the old music with modern knowledge. the fact that we did all this with the deserved respect to the originals makes us quite sure that the results are bringing something new and interesting to the old tracks and transport the past into the here and now. - henrik schwarz, ?e & dixon

here we go again with some crazy party music - directly from the acid-drenched mind of the most fidgety of them all, your favorite bulgarian! after some great releases on such labels as noodles recordings, potty mouth recordings and second session, the bulgarian is back - this time showcasing his minimal side for complot. first off we have the anti-bling anthem check to check millionaire - a surprisingly clever mix of catchy lyrics and an unstoppable groove, the right combination to get faces smiling and booties shaking. dotcoza is the second anthem on this ep, and there s no denying that it s metallic stabs and wild acidic bass line will make you move, while the whistles will tickle your ears for added pleasure. for those looking to hear the bulgarian s darker side, home tonight will not disappoint with it s choppy percussion and inebriated bass line - a perfect compliment for those mushrooms you ate earlier. finally, with its plethora of interesting sound bytes, something red will make you pop like bubble gum and lock like a solid-steel safe. there s no question that the bulgarian s incisive sounds, illegal bass lines and crispy beats will make all of us sweat.. like the last time you got chased by a pit bull..
